As with most holidays, we have some global traditions that we associate with some extra comfort and convenience, and Easter is no exception.
At Easter, many people swear by their favorite oranges, chocolates, and cocoa. However, there are some demographic differences in who drinks it the most. A new survey conducted on behalf of the Information Bureau of Dairy Products (Melk.no) shows that more than 73% of those aged 15-29 tend to drink cocoa during the Easter holiday. Those aged 30-44 also drank a lot of hot chocolate, with a similar rate of 66%.
Cocoa around Norway
There are also some differences in the degree to which we enjoy cocoa based on where we live in the country. In Central Norway, Northern Norway and Western Norway we drink the most cocoa. Central Norway reigns supreme, with up to 7 in 10 saying they tend to drink cocoa a few times during the Easter holidays.
But no matter your age or wherever you are in the country – cocoa is a perfect and simple drink that will suit everyone, on the best occasions. Whether you enjoy it in the city or the village, a thermos filled with cocoa is perfect for strolling in the local area, in the sundeck of a cottage, or on the sofa with a board game or a good book.
The beauty of homemade cocoa is that we can enjoy it the way we like. It can be made with melted chocolate, rich milk, and whipped cream for a luxurious kind, or you can mix it with light milk, reduced sugar, and cocoa powder for a lighter variant, says Therese Gliminge Arnesen, nutrition advisor for the Information Office for Dairy Products. Products (Melk.no) in a press release.

Cocoa has few ingredients, she says, but is mostly made from milk that additionally provides replenishment of important nutrients like calcium and iodine.
To add to the comfort of home, cocoa can be mixed with other exciting ingredients.
– Cocoa is very suitable, for example, hot pepper, cinnamon, ginger, berries. And you’ll get the best Easter cocoa if you add a few fresh oranges, says Gliminge Arnesen.
